Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) about my practice
This changes from day to day and week to week and it is not practical to keep this information current here. If you call my cell phone at 720-313-3514, my opening greeting should give you the answer. When my practice is full I keep a waiting list for new clients and I am always willing to provide referrals. If you need to use your insurance, it is often best to contact your insurance company for information on "in network" providers.
Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Medicare, and all PPO insurance. If you have different insurance you can check with your insurance company to see if you have an option to see a provider "out of network" - typically at a higher rate. Please note that I no longer am "in network" for United Behavioral Health (but I can still bill United if you have the out of network option) and I do NOT take Medicaid.
I generally see clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I do not currently have any evening hours, and I do not work on the weekends.
No. I only do individual therapy with adults and seniors. I am no longer working with adolescents.
It is always best to call me directly at 720-313-3514.
No, in order to get a prescription, you need to see a physician such as a psychiatrist or your general practitioner. However, I have working relationships with several local psychiatrists and I can also talk to your doctor to make medication recommendations.
My hourly rate is $150 per hour. Most therapy sessions are 55-60 minutes, for a charge of $150. Sometimes longer sessions can be arranged, and charges are commensurate. If you are using insurance, and I am "in network" for your insurance, the rate is determined by your insurance company. For self-pay clients, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" detailing the cost of services prior to starting treatment.
If using insurance, get me a copy of your card and any authorization code provided by your insurance company, if one has been supplied. You will be asked to fill out a form for billing purposes (Pt Info). This will include your contact information and information that might not be on your insurance card. You will also be asked to read and sign a form that spells out your HIPAA rights (i.e., rights to privacy of your health care records). Finally, please complete a screening form that will help me understand your reasons for seeking treatment (Screening).
Since the onset of COVID-19, my therapy sessions are primarily provided using a teletherapy video platform. I use a fully HIPAA compliant version of Zoom for teletherapy.
I have very limited "in office" hours, which I reserve for working with clients that are experiencing trauma.
